What is an UPS?
For a while, it was frustrating to see my desktop computer shut down and all unsaved information was lost. It could be a 1 second voltage variation or a power outage, I always had to press Cmd + S (or Ctrl + S) to constantly save.
The UPS (Uninterruptible power supply) solves 2 problems at the same time:
- Add a backup battery. If there is a power outage, the UPS outlets will supply electricity from the battery.
- Regulates voltage variations. AC electricity is converted to DC and regulated to 12V to charge the battery. This way, voltage variations that could damage your computer or server do not occur.
